Free resources for children

Imagine who lives in your paper house and what adventures happen behind its door. This free cut-out activity is made for children aged 4–7 to enjoy together.

Little Stories Base — a house to cut out and assemble

Colour the house, give its resident a name, cut out the template and assemble it together. Inside, you’ll also find question cards to help you invent your own story.

In the PDF: a house template, assembly instructions and six story prompt cards.

You’ll need: A4 paper, colouring pencils, scissors and glue. An adult can help with cutting.

How to build the house and start playing

  1. Print both pages at 100% scale.
  2. First colour and decorate the house, then cut it out along the solid lines.
  3. Fold the walls and roof along the dotted lines, then glue the tabs together with an adult.
  4. Cut out the cards on the second page. Take turns drawing a card and making up a story together.

You don’t need to follow a set ending — your story can unfold in any way you like.
